Here at the Brunswick Kidz Club we aim to offer your children an environment that helps them to develop through play and gain new skills at there own pace. Introduction We are lucky to have a spacious Kidz Club which includes: 2 Arts & Crafts rooms 5 a side gym to play various games and sports Large play area which has pool tables, table tennis Home corner T.V Room Under 8’ s room Computer room containing 4 computers Large outdoor play area.
Brunswick Afterschool Activities. The following is an example of a typical weeks programme for the Afterschool club. This changes on a weekly basis. We always incorporate the Every Child Matters Framework: Be Healthy; Stay Safe; Make a Positive Contribution; Enjoy and Achieve and Achieve Economic Well-being.
Monday: (Main Area) Community Police visit explaining to children about; stranger danger; road, rail and canal safety also Internet safety. (Gym) Uni-Hockey and Football. (Art Room) Clay modelling.
Tuesday: (Main Area) Table Tennis and Pool tournaments. Chess and draughts. (Gym) Parachute games. (Art Room) Hand and foot printing.
Wednesday: (Main Area) Lego building and Knex modelling. Board games. (Gym) Badminton and short tennis. (Art Room) Making ‘healthy foods’ picture frames.
Thursday: (Main Area) Look at different cultures by touch, smell and taste. Play dough modelling and chalk boards. (Gym) Rounders and Hockey. (Art Room) Mask making following on from culture session.
Friday: (Main Area) Puppet show; face painting and balloon modelling. (Gym) Relay races using Hool-a-hoops, been bags, skipping ropes and bat and ball. (Art Room) Children’s choice.
We have a large outside area, which is opened when the weather is good. It has three playhouses. The activities we do vary and include skipping, hop-scotch and chalk drawing on the ground. We have a mobile book cupboard is put in the main area on a daily basis. We also have various toys, teddies and dolls put into the main area for the children to play with as they chose. There is also a video room, which we use to watch TV and DVD’s. Times of opening are as follows: School Term Time 3pm - 6pm £6.00 per night Snack Included School Holidays 8am - 5.30pm £14.00 per day Packed lunch required, breakfast and afternoon snack provided. Please note that a snack is not a substitute for an evening meal. School Pick - Ups All Saints (Heman St), All Saints (Chesnut Grove), St Monica’s, Lander Road, St Elizabeth’s, St Johns, Beech Road, Thomas Grey Infants & Juniors, Waterloo Primary, and Linacre Primary.
Staff Manager - Cathie Chambers Deputy - Donna Scott Playworkers — Andrew Groom, Stephen Magee, Joanne Davies, Anthony Dunn, James O'Brien. And also we have 5 staff trainees, 3 volunteers and onsite caretaker.
All staff have been CRB cleared including volunteers. All staff hold a paediatric first aid certificate. Various staff have NVQ level 3, NVQ level 2 and Cache level 2. Staff have also attended child protection courses. We encourage all staff to take up the necessary training for the relevant qualifications in child care. We also consult and work along side Early Years.
Induction/Registration Parents/Carers are asked to fill in registration forms and discuss any queries they have with the manager. Before your child attends the after school club we like them to attend the club 1 night (this is free of charge) so your child can become accustomed to the staff and other children in the club before pick up from school begins. Parent/carers are also encouraged to view the building and meet the staff. Because of CRB clearance parents/carers are not allowed to stay after school hours this is for your child's safety.
Free Play The club actively promotes free play to empower the children to make their own decisions in activities they choose. Play helps children learn to make good relationships it can also help them find their own special gift or talent. They use make believe play to understand, recognise and deal with their own emotions. It also builds up their self esteem and self confidence.

Health and Safety It is the responsibility of the manager to ensure that the premises and equipment are safe. Any accidents serious or minor are recorded and a copy gave to parent/carer.
Fire Procedure It is the responsibility of the manager to ensure all staff, volunteers and children are made aware of the Fire Procedure, Fire Exits and Meeting Area.
Bullying Our club is committed to providing an environment that is safe, welcoming and free from bullying. Bullying of any form is unacceptable, such behaviour will not be tolerated or excused under any circumstances. Children will be encouraged to immediately report any incident of bullying they witness and reassured that what they say will be taken seriously and handled carefully.
Complaints Procedure We always aim to provide high quality services for everyone. But accept sometimes things do not always go to plan. In such circumstances, we want to know so we can put them right and learn from our mistakes. If you have a complaint please contact the Centre Manager Keith Lloyd, or the Afterschoool Manager. If you wish to submit a complaint to our Management Committee, please contact the number below. Any parent/carer can, at anytime, submit a complaint to OFSTED about any aspect of registered child care provision.
